KTM 350 EXC-F

I'm joining the bike community again as I'm going to buy an enduro bike.  I had motocross bikes when I was younger, but now I'm older and fatter I want something I can greenlane/light enduro on.

Anyone ridden/owned one of the new fuel injected off road bikes?  The last bike I had was a 2007 YZ250 2-stroke.  Anything I should be aware of when buying/owning?

Are you still allowed to go green laning there all shut by me now 😒

Yeah they've closed quite a few down by me, or they've stepped up the police presence to stop us doing it.  

I've got Carmarthen which is about 30 minutes from me which still has loads of them open, plus they've just opened up another two tracks which we can ride.  I've also got some tracks up the Swansea valleys that we are allowed to ride on.  It did get a lot worse which is why I sold my old bike but in the past few years a few farmers have got back into it and allowed us on their land. 

I'd love to do some green-laning, but there are barely any roads around here where you can do it. 

It's a good laugh.  Plus I won't look gay like I would in road bike leathers :)

I'll definitely be booking myself onto some of these off-road experience days in Wales next year though, they look a right hoot.

Well I got a bit excited, found one and I just put a deposit down this morning.  Financing 4 grand on it and I pick it up on Saturday morning

Owain, they are an amazing laugh those days out.  I've always had bikes and I've taken mates who ride road bikes on them and they always love it!  They always moan about arm pump though, they seem to think that they won't get it as they ride all the time

I don't know anything about off-road bikes, but £5.5k for a 350cc bike with no kit seems a hell of a lot to me. 

The prices on bikes have gone up a lot over the past few years.  Motocross bikes all use EFI rather than the old carb setup that they used to, which has bumped up the price it seems.  Two strokes go for a lot less since they are cheaper to buy new, plus KTM come with all the extra's that other bikes don't (Brembo brakes, WP suspension, Excel wheels)

My cousin just bought a brand new 450 version of this bike and the 250/350/450 EXC-F are £7800!  Mega bread!

That's insane, what it is about these bikes that makes them so much more expensive? As a rough guide against the MT-07, a massively popular road bike:

Clearly I'm missing something, I just don't really see what. 

I think it's as they are race bikes, they constantly update and change things, to try and get that tenth of a second each lap. That pushes development costs up.

Stop ruining it for me already owain, I've not even picked it up yet

If you're in it for that kind of money, might as well just drop £41k on a Kawasaki H2R.

A mate of mine has put his name down for one, going to a show tomorrow to see it up-close and in person and then putting a deposit down.  Madness
